Mindfulness

How many tasks are you completing while you are eating?  How often are you interrupted when eating a meal or snack.  How present are you when you are actually eating?

Enter into the world of mindfulness.  The definition of mindfulness is "paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, without judgement". Jon Kabat-Zin.

Mindful eating is just that.  Slowing down, taking notice, being present, and taking care of your body.... without judgment.  This is a challenging practice to take on in our hurry-up and never-ending task appointed lifestyles, but it can be done.  Sometimes we do have to start from scratch, such as noticing how long it takes you to finish a meal, or paying attention to the actual taste of food.  Do you actually like what you are eating?  Maybe, maybe not....do you know?

My intentions for you this week would be to take notice.  Notice your pace of eating, the colors of your food choices, the taste...not just good and bad, as well as noticing if you hold judgment with eating or food choices.  If you hold judgment, I would challenge you to let that thought go and just be present.
