Gratitude Beyond the Holidays

It is that time of year where emotions can run high and low, because the holidays can represent so many different things to different people. For some, it is the most joyous time of the year while for others, it can be a painful reminder of family breakups and horrible pasts. It is a time of giving as well as a time of overconsumption in terms of food and advertising. Nonetheless, let us think about the idea of gratitude.
 
Adding Perspective
We shouldn’t just let one time of year represent gratitude, because it is a way of being and a mindset. It is about celebrating the things and the people around you that add value to your life as well as the gifts and talents that you can share with the world. This is not to say that we should disregard the negative things, but that life is a mixture of the good and the bad.
 
Thoughts for the Week
The holidays can act as a reminder of why we should be grateful, but let us think beyond just the next few weeks. Gratitude should not be just limited to a couple months a year where we make resolutions to improve and think back. It’s an attitude and mindset.
